Mercado Global partners with companies across a range of initiatives to strengthen our impact in Guatemala and in the United States. Through sponsorships, conference bags, and branded corporate gifts, our corporate partners help promote our mission to break the cycle of poverty through sustainable business development.
Get your company involved in one of these ways:
Conference Bags: We recently showcased our work as the conference bag supplier at the 2012 International AIDS Conference in Washington, DC in which 25,000 participants were given conference bags produced by our artisans in partnership with Levi Strauss & Co. Learn more about how we can create responsibly-sourced totes, messenger bags, and fold-over bags for your upcoming conference »
Corporate Gifts: From mugs to scarves to tech cases, we can create corporate gifts for your employees and brand them with your company name or logo.
Make a Corporate Gift: Mercado Global’s innovative social enterprise model has been recognized around the world. We invite you to help us scale this model with a corporate sponsorship or gift through a corporate foundation.
Corporate partners enjoy intimate access to our work, including company insight trips to our operations in Guatemala, in-house brown bag lunches with our indigenous artisan leaders, and mentoring opportunities with our staff. Furthermore, your support of our innovative mission distinguishes you to your clients and helps promote social enterprise in your community. It’s a win-win.
At Mercado Global, we have developed a model that allows major U.S. retailers to have “profits through principles” while also engaging women artisans as true partners in the development, growth and success of this model. Our partnerships are breaking the cycle of poverty through expanding the market for fair trade products and showing major companies that they can successfully source products that empower rural women to lift their families out of poverty.
Our partner artisans are indigenous women living in the rural highlands where there is little demand for their products and difficulty getting to places that may have a consumer base and therefore very inconsistent income. Through our partnerships, these women gain the market access and income opportunities needed to sustain their cooperatives, which in turn enables them to provide for their families and gain the confidence to emerge as leaders in their communities.
Our Retail Partners are bringing artisan-crafted product to consumers in the U.S. and, through choosing socially responsible sourcing, are helping our artisans lift their family out of poverty. Our in-country product development and production teams provide quick development assistance while meeting high production capacity and quality control standards of selective clientele. Our business standards match the integrity of our organization.
We also promote Expert Volunteer opportunities for employees of corporate partners to come to Guatemala and work directly with our staff and artisans to build their understanding of socially responsible sourcing while sharing their expertise.
